Please Don't Let Summer Go...

I am back with another project The Cutting Cafe.  Today it is a beautiful floral backpack. I am not willing to let go of the warm weather so quickly.  With this designer series paper from Stampin Up called Petal Promenade, I am able to let summer linger just a little longer.

I used the PDF files from The Cutting Cafe to cut out the template from the designer series paper and also used a Blushing Bride card stock from Stampin Up.  The ribbon is 3/8 in Gold Metallic Trim Ribbon also from Stampin Up.  Clear pink accent drops used as buttons for each flap.  Flower Charm from Lucky Dip Wooden Accents, and Key from Bead Landing.

Thank you The Coffee Beans for allowing me to participate as part of your design team.

Coffee Lovers Mixed Media Wall Hanger-Cutting Cafe Digi Files for Coffee Bean Challenge Blog 9/27.2019

September 27 2019

Welcome Back Friends,

Robin here creating for The Coffee Beans Challenge Blog, a brand new challenge blog! Please consider joining us on the blog for some fun, and show off your creations.

Thank You to our sponsor this month, the Cutting Cafe, for the use of The Coffee Word Shaped Card, Tune back in to see what we have created using another Cutting Cafe digi file, which I will keep a secret for now!

I have been a coffee drinker since 1975, I know the date of when my love affair began with coffee, because I was fresh out of high school with a cosmetology license. Armed with my licensed and excitement to follow my dreams in the beauty industry, I began hunting for my first position as a stylist in a salon. I landed that position on my first interview and so it began! Long days, starting early and ending late, gaining experience that could not be taught in school, I throw myself in the role as the new stylist. I swept up a lot of hair, did thousands of shampoos, rinsed perms, emptied trash, all of what was not my clients or my mess. You see, that is how you built a client base, by getting to know every client of the salon. Everyone I worked with drank coffee by the gallons and smoked. I never picked up the smoking habit, however, I sure did begin my long time love affair with coffee. I still today start everyday with a cup of coffee, and enjoy every last drop!

I started my project by recycling a very heavy piece of card board, that was part of the packing from the magnet register covers I buy at a local big box store, that I used to store my die cuts on. I try to recycle what I can in my projects, recycle, reduce, reuse.

I began by brushing on 3 different colors of acrylic paint to the cardboard, adding the darkest first and working towards the lightest last. After that was dry, I used a stencil with dots and added gold acrylic paint, by adding a bit of water to a puddle of paint, picking up the paint with a almost dry wipe and swirling it over the stencil. While that was drying, I fussy cut the word coffee, and added color to the word using distress inks and a sponge applicator. I inked all edges and set aside to dry. I created a coffee ring on the right side, and decided then to use a roughly ground instant coffee, mixed with a clear gel glue, for added interest, making sure I created some drips, and left some grounds for texture. I then added yet one more layer of texture by splattering the darkest color of the colors of latex paint over the project. After all was dry. I inked the edges of the card board, using walnut ink, and added punched photo corners. I finished of the project by punching small holes and stringing some good old fashion cotton string, for the hanger.

Are you a morning coffee drinker or all-day coffee drinker??

Thank You for visiting and as always I appreciate your kind comments.

Until Next Time.........

Robin

This my very first time posting on a blog and come to think of it it is my first time posting in a design team! The best of it is I had to create ( with the very much needed help of Martha Gomez Hernandez) said design team to get in one lolol! So here I am presenting my very first project . Our Design team have been very fortunate in having a great sponsor for our first chakenge . A word shaped card, the word being Coffee which I thought very appropriate for our first challenge. It was provided by The cutting Cafe from a design from the very talented Regina Easter.

Firstly I printed out the file and choose what I wanted from the file. I really loved the idea of a Halloween based card as the season is pretty much on our doorstep.  So I set to cutting out, by hand I might add! Lol. Using a knife and a small pair of embroidery scissors I cut out the front of the card only . I left the back in one piece to make it easier to add a sentiment.

I coloured the front if the card with Spectrum noir tri blend alcohol pens . I stamped out a coffee cup from craft creations . I then drew a pumpkin and a witches hat , which was also coloured by spectrum noir alcohol pens. I layered them onto the front of the card using cushion glue pads from Hobby craft.  I hand cut the sentiments and along with an added , pumpkin spice tag I stuck them  to the card using tape adhesive from Hobby craft.

Once I had finished the card I couldn't resist having a little play with the camera and adding a few spooky bits to the mix . I really enjoyed this project and cannot wait for the next one .Thank you for stopping by and seeing what I have been up to . I hope you like what I have put together.

Everyone knows I love my bling, but very few are aware of my sarcasm

Good evening everyone. Thank you The Coffee Beans for allowing me to be a part of your design team. And thank you The Cutting Cafe for sponsoring The Coffee Beans. I am known as the glitter queen by many of my friends and followers. However, I am known by a choice few of how sarcastic I can really be. I am really not a great fan of coffee.  In fact, I cannot even allow myself to swallow it.  That being said when I looked at the sentiments by Coffee Beans cut files, I had to chuckle.  I found the best coffee cup stamp from Unity Stamps Enjoyed Together set. The person standing beside the coffee cup looks very smug as if to say she is all that and a bag of chips... or should I say a bag of chocolate-covered coffee beans. I heat embossed her in Gilded embossing powder from Brutus Monroe on Very Vanilla card stock from Stampin Up and watercolored the stamped image.  I cut out the image and layered it on Gold Shimmery paper from Tonic Studios.  The card base is also Very Vanilla.  The Coffee cut file is part of The Cutting Cafe cut files which I used my Scan N Cut in black card stock.  That was glued in place in the center of the card. The sentiment which is my standing point is I love you Like I love Coffee.... To the unknown, everyone would say Awww she loves you so much... But this is saying just the opposite with a self-satisfied look. You can find the file for Coffee Word Shaped card by clicking on Coffee
